I use an expander Roland BK7-m .pour moi .Appareil complet ,plein de possibilités (rrytmes , répertoires, , créations ). Been using it for almost 10 years.

Hello lovers of good music! I have been a member of this great site for quite some time now, but I have never been on the forum before. So, as requested, I introduce myself to you: My name is Gérard (nickname: gege_musette), I am an accordionist in Belgium (Tournai area) and I play on an acoustic accordion. I'm considering to buy a Ketron SD40 expander (or other) but I'm not sure it could be 100% usefull for me, so I'm going to post today a topic to explain my motivations in the category : "chromatic accordion". Thank you all for welcoming me and maybe helping me in my choice.

You will appreciate the dedication of both the Members and the Administrators of P.À who are all great.As for your search for an arranger, I bought the bk7m from Roland in addition to my tyros. It is very well designed and very easy to use. For my part, it is coupled with my Digit air millénium Cava. For small performances it suits me. well musically Excellent day Musette27

Hello "musette27"" and thank you for your welcome message.yes, I know the BK-7m from Roland which seems to have softer and more mellow rhythms than the Ketron which are rather percussive and aggressive but unfortunately, it is no longer available in Belgium!!! Moreover, the Roland is much less expensive.again thank you and well musically.gege_musette

Indeed I was disappointed by Ketron (old styles for my taste) or the purchase of a tyros for the ball. It's true that the bk7m is no longer sold in France. It seems that Roland should release a new module but I do not know more. To be continued! Excellent afternoon. Musette27

I would like to have some information that I have not found anywhere on the midi system. I know that it can be installed on an acoustic accordion, in order to continue to play without being connected to an arranger or expander and to keep his accordion without having to buy another one.
I would like to know how much it would cost to install this device on my Fun star 120, and is it a danger for the accordion, and who should I contact for this manipulation, and finally, how much does the midi cost in total (arranger, midi device,...)?

The technique for MIDI on the acoustic accordion is not "open", it remains quite rare today except for a few professionals and it is quite expensive.
Cavagnolo has made a big leap forward with their new digital Digit Pro or simple model. They also do mixed acoustic/digital or all digital modification from an acoustic.

Here you are with a price range which seems to me correct.
It is true that the MIDI and now the digital of modern times embellish the game, it also opens new repertoire.
The cost is decreasing, but for good stuff you still have to pay the price. There is no mystery about it, quality has a price. Then the options (Microphone, HF etc..) must be able to be added later.
A good system to be able to make evolve its instrument with time and the means.

I had the Limex light system installed on my accordion. It requires a cable (there is an accessory to replace it 200 €). For the moment, I'm connecting my accordion to my digital piano. Next week, I'll go to the Toulouse accordion store because they have used expanders (ketron and cavagnolo). You can get back to me and I'll have lots of information. The problem with old expanders is their weight, but the price of new ones is 2 to 3000€.

The limex system cost me 1400 € it weighs a little the accordion 1 kg approximately. There is no risk for the accordion but you will need an expander. cdlt
