I waited for a 5-day free trial period. However, from the first day, I was refused access to the scores, after an hour's trial, and most of the scores were less than 6 months old, so they were supposedly inaccessible, except for paying the "premium" subscription. Is this the case for works that are in the public domain?

Hello, there are a number of limitations that have been added due to abuses. Not more than a few months ago, members in trial period could download as much as they wanted during 5 days any scores. Then some took advantage of it. Now the number of downloadable scores is 30 for the trial period and only the scores added more than 6 months ago are concerned.

Maybe, but "see" was considered as "download"; one quickly arrives at 30 scores, even having consulted those which one does not necessarily like.

Hello, yes seeing is considered downloading because the pdf viewer has the option to save the displayed score.
