Hello,
Creating a new thread to comment on existing threads does not help with searches.
You receive notifications when someone comments on one of your posts, if you click on it, it will take you back to the linked post. If you've already commented on a post, you'll receive an email with a link to go directly to the post.
Have you disabled these options on your profile? You can enable or disable these email alerts from the "my preferences" page:

When someone sends you a private message, you have a "notification" that appears in red on the "envelope" icon. This tells you how many unread messages you have in your private message box.
What do you think it takes to make the menus and navigation "logical"?
