I have been playing accordion for 3 years, so I'm a great beginner, I have big difficulties to play the chords, however I will have to succeed because my goal is to play in retirement homes, so I am looking for advice for my left hand and I'm looking for scores that can be played for the elderly, I do not know what pieces to learn, suggestions please

For the left hand, if as I suppose you work alone, I would advise you to meet someone who can give you some basics (maybe take some lessons...). If you indicate in which region you live, a member of the forum will perhaps be able to help you (personally, I'm in the Toulouse region).for the repertoire: you have everything you want on the forum; you can start to look on the internet at videos of animations in old people's homes. If you start with a not very long repertoire, you will quickly have requests from the residents!

Hello, Yes indeed, the construction of the chords, the principles which govern them and their sequences, it is the harmony. Many musicians neglect this learning. It is necessary to take a few lessons to acquire the basics and to be able to play with pleasure and understand what you are doing, even for pieces that seem simple. Good music.

good evening, I am taking lessons with an accordeon teacher but apart from working on my left hand, she doesn't tell me anything else, she doesn't have any tricks to give me, I coordinate my two hands with difficulty, and so, I am learning really slowly, I would like to advance a little faster

Hello,It's long.....it's even sometimes very long.A lot of work, a lot of rigor, it is necessary to acquire the independence of the two hands.For the simple pieces (4, 5 chords) that should go faster.A precious help: - knowledge of the theory of the music- knowledge of the composition of the chords- knowledge of the harmony- work of the scales- etc....
There are a lot of tutorials on youtube (you have to go and sort them out).
You must not give up, the reward is at the end of the hours of work.

Hello Angelique, Don't give up .... but don't skip any steps. You must acquire a good practice of the left hand as well as the right hand then play with both hands slowly to start. The technicality is acquired as time goes by. As our Comrade LEVINCERET says, it can be long.well musically and good luck. MUSETTE27
