hi, I am not professional anymore but I allow myself to answer you ;)
you can well imagine, by seeing all the enormities drawn from MIDI files by badly inspired "sorcerer's apprentices", and by reading the fanciful tablatures found regularly on the net, that if a "correct" way existed that would be known !!!(you can always read in the heading "tutorials" some analyses which I committed on this kind of conversions) most reliable solution: convert the MIDI file into a score (feasible with the usual precautions) THEN rewrite the score thus obtained with a software that allows the conversion into guitar tablature (for example TablEdit free but limited, or Harmony Assistant, by far the most performing but paying). Don't we go faster by learning to read a score and to play guitar in a more conventional way? that's a good question ;)best regardsJJ

Hello JJthe explanations are clear and neat, I will find tabl editc'est to convert 1 guitar piece (apache shadows)
for my son, he starts to play the guitar, he began to play it in lamin in the exercises of jj Rebillart he is doing well, he would like to learn the whole piece, I looked on the net but I find that partoches in C, it makes him change the fingering, and it is a little lost he wanted to know the piece for the fete de la musique, it's not won that's why I thought of the midi file thank you for the information slc

Hi, confirm me the tone and I'll tell you right away, if it's to play Apache an old fundamentalist like me can leave his convictions aside;)I take advantage of it to add "Guitar Pro" to the software which allow this kind of gymnastics, it is one of the references dedicated to the guitarists as its name indicates it, which also allows the import and the export in several formats, of which the MIDI, paying (less than 60 € with paying updates to be envisaged) for info H-A costs 70 € with updates for life!!! to read you (tone)JJ

If a MIDI file is well realized and that the creator respects the convention (NOT WRITTEN OR PUBLISHED BUT RESPECTED BY MANY CREATORS) The melody line is on channel 4
Bass line is on channel 2
Drums on channel 10
All instruments used for rhythm will be in the channels after 10 ( 11 to 15 )
All the instruments that make a chorus will be in the channels
from 1 to 9 (except 2 and 4 already used)
Channel 16 is reserved for percussion (so in addition to the drums)
The free software TUXGUITAR allows to open a Midi and to display in tablature what is to be translated in a Mid and also the files of GUITARPRO
After that, it's a matter of layout.
